I am an Instagram fanatic. I follow an unseen amount of fashion and lifestyle bloggers, who give me so much inspiration for my own Instagram and my own fashion/lifestyle blog. It's definitely a healthy obsession though! It's easy to get comfortable in the routine near class in the city - go to the same coffee shops, walk the same streets, and see the same things. Following these Instagrams gave myself a new set of eyes for Copenhagen, and presented a bigger urge to go explore. The last few days I have been on a hunt to find the best Copenhagen Instagrammers. Here are the 10 best accounts to follow to stir up your wanderlust spirit. (P.S. all have foodie pictures in their feeds with amazing looking food.)

I've been living in Copenhagen for a month (time flies, let me tell you), and I am already feeling like a true Danish local. Google maps is no longer needed to get me from train station to classes, turning hand signals on my bike is second nature, and I can say "see you later" in Danish without feeling like a fool. Within a month time, I have finally found my mojo and my "places" that I love. I hope you will check them out, and love them too! Det Kongelige Bibliotek - otherwise known as The Royal Library. The first couple of weeks I was struggling finding somewhere that was cozy enough and had the right kind of study vibe to do my homework. I love going to coffee shops, but that begins to make for a very expensive study trip very fast, reasons the Royal Library is perfect. There is a cafe at the bottom floor, great for study pick-me-ups, and then four floors of study area. I haven't explored the entire space yet, but what a great place to crack down and crank out that paper you need to write.
Paluden Bogcafé. This café includes everything I love in life - so much coffee, books, cool locals, and a comfy-cozy feel. Similar to the Royal library, it is a great place to do homework, but provides social interaction and great sandwiches and brunch that the Library does not. P.S. the chai latte is a must. Skt. Peder's Bageri. Fast, easy, cheap goodies. Its dangerous, but so dang good for a quick pick-up. Illum Rooftop. Original Coffee is tucked away at the 5th floor rooftop of Illum with the best view of all time. There's also a bagel shop that is Subway version but with bagels, and a pizza place that offers outdoor seating right along the skyline. & other stories. Let me buy the same sweater in 4 different colors... Thats what this store does to me. Cute and trendy clothes, shoes, and jewelry are packed all around the store, there's something for everyone here. And it won't cost you a fortune! Plus, COS is my other obsession. a little bit more expensive but very modern and chic - perfect for business casual clothes. Tivoli. Copenhagen is home to the second oldest amusement park in the world and it's located in the heart of the city. This place is magical. The rides are fun and the ice cream and candy will make you drool, yes, but the gardens and atmosphere of Tivoli is unlike any amusement park type setting I've ever been in. The magic and fairytale aspects are overwhelming in the greatest way. Tivoli has specific dates when it's open, so make sure you check it out (here) and I definitely recommend getting the season pass so you can walk in whenever you want (cheapest way if you think you'll go in three times or more). Core Course Week. The week where class becomes less awkward, where friend groups are made, and of course - where we get an in-depth dive into our core course.
International Business has already had so much to offer in this short study tour week. I saw a side of Danish corporate business's that are currently thriving in National markets - LEGO, ECCO, Maersk, Fuglsang Brewery, Danfoss, and Carlsberg - all which are headquartered in Denmark. We were able to hear from Vice Presidents, Senior Marketing Managers, Brewery Owners, Senior Strategy Advisors, and International Business A's very own Professor - Neils Hald, CEO of the Danish Brewer's Association. Getting plugged into these well-known brands for the day broadened my knowledge base of all these different industries and allowed me to hear and actually see how these companies were run. Absolutely one of the best core courses to take... so far. But I'm anticipating it only going up from here! This week wasn't all work. We lived up to the motto - work hard, play hard.
This week has made me SO excited for the long study tour coming up in a few weeks to Berlin and Prague! Community has always been something I've yearned for- which I'm sure everyone longs for a place where they can feel and express love where every they go. The idea of finding community while here in Copenhagen didn't sound easy. I have an amazing group of friends at Elon and the sweetest community who point me towards Jesus and pour into me with love and acceptance everyday. What if this doesn't exist outside of Elon? How do I find this community I'm craving? Let me first say that God is so good. It just so happened that one of my best friends from Elon, met a girl at a retreat who was planning to be abroad at DIS the same semester as me. And it just so happened I ran into her on the streets of Copenhagen, and it just so happened we both blindly signed up for the same hiking trip, and it just so happens that we're already great, great friends. Coincidence? I don't think so. Getting through this new experience, I have realized that I will never be left out to drown. No, community won't just pop-up out of no where, but with persistence and trust in the Lord, it will come. Draw near, as He will draw near. Tips on finding community:
Favorite Grab Lunch (St. Peder's Bakery has the perfect generally cheap lunch. Come the afternoon, the sandwiches start to appear in the window. My favorite is the pesto chicken tomato - the bread is delicious.) Favorite Floor (A trip to IKEA is always a good idea, especially when pretty floors are involved.) Favorite Hike (Kullaberg in Sweden is absolutely beautiful with these little secret lagoons.) Favorite Tuesday Tradition (Tivoli Tuesdays! Having the 2nd oldest amusement park in the world in my backyard, is pretty cool.)
